Tattle Jar

Every time a child tattles in my home (or my child away from home), they must put .25 in the tattle jar. To promote learning, I will allow this to be any combination of coins or dollars (taking change of course).

Needed:
  • Glass jar (I used an old Ragu Pasta Sauce jar)
  • Hammer
  • Flat head screw driver

Instructions:After using your sauce (I made lasagna with mine), remove the label, wash it really well and let it dry.
**NOTE: If you have trouble like I do removing that darn glue under the label, I suggest using Goo Gone. This stuff is AMAZING. I use it on everything!

Next, using your flat head screw driver and hammer, hammer a "slot" into the top of your lid. To do this, place the flat head part of the screw driver against the lid and hammer it down until you create the slot. To make it bigger (you want to be able to fit at least a quarter in there), just move the screw driver over slightly and hammer again, making sure you connect the opening to make it a bigger opening.

Finally, if you want, you can print and tape some wonderful words and/or instructions onto your jar.

The print beneath reads -
Mom's Definition of Tattling: To tell an adult what another child has done to get him or her in trouble.
Tattling is ONLY ok when someone has been or might get physically hurt
