Cloth Diaper Safe Diaper Rash Cream

Since we are transitioning to cloth diapers, I had to find a solution for two things - diaper rash cream and baby powder. Here is how I made the diaper rash cream!

Needed:

  • 6oz baby food jar
  • 1oz of beeswax
  • 4oz organic coconut oil
  • Tea Tree Essential oil
  • Lavender Essential oil

Instructions:
Clean out the baby food jar and dry it.

Fill up a pot of water, but make sure that when you place the baby food jar into the water, it doesn't pour in.

Turn heat to medium.

Add beeswax to jar and place jar into the water - I had to hold the jar until the beeswax melted because it kept wanting to tip over. BE CAREFUL! That steam gets HOT!

Once the beeswax has melted (approx. 5-8 minutes), remove the jar and slowly add the coconut oil. Adding it too fast will cause the beeswax to solidify.

Put the jar back into the water and stir (at this point, the jar was full enough I didn't have to hold it up). Stir the coconut oil and the beeswax.

After about 10-12 minutes, it will become completely liquefied. Add 1-5 drops of the Tea Tree Essential oil and 1-2 drops of the Lavender Essential oil. Stir this all together.

Remove from the pot and set aside for 30-45minutes. It will solidify again and you will have your cloth diaper safe diaper rash cream!
